President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is expected to sign the Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu) to replace the Election Law (UU Pemilu) No. 7/2017 today (Dec 13). The Perppu is needed as a legal umbrella to accommodate the implementation of the 2024 simultaneous elections in four new Papua provinces, as well as the draw of political parties contesting in 2024 elections that will be conducted by the General Election Commission (KPU) tomorrow (Dec 14).
