The Police arrested scores of local residents in Wadas village, Purworejo, Central Java for protesting the development of the Bener dam. The incident propelled President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and the Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo into the headlines. Some blamed the President and the Governor for the said incident.
