Despite the controversy, the Indonesian House of Representatives has unanimously passed the TNI bill in a plenary session held at Gedung Senayan, Jakarta on Thursday (20/03), while hundreds of protesters still gathered outside the parliamentary building. The bill focuses on three main points, including addition to the military’s primary functions, inclusion of active-duty officers in government institutions, and extension of the officers’ retirement age.
