The Law on Information and Electronic Transactions (known as the UU ITE) has long been a scourge for many. This Law’s existence is important, but several articles are more striking than the Law’s purpose because it is often misused. The talk on revision of the law had been going on for years although we know that the revision of UU ITE will not make much difference if the primary penal code remains problematic. Earlier last year, the House of Representatives conveyed their willingness to continue discussion on the controversial articles in the Bill on the Criminal Code (RKUHP). Now, nearly two years later, the Government announced the plan to enact the RKUHP into Law and as promised, the new Criminal Code will change the norms in UU ITE. To subscribe please click here
