So far, the work of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) seems to have focused more on cases that occurred in the State capital and other regions in western part of Indonesia. Almost never have we heard of a major corruption case in the eastern part of Indonesia, until recently. Several investigations have successfully uncovered corruption cases in several areas in Maluku and Papua. Recently, the KPK announced two corruption cases that occurred in Mimika, Papua and Mamberamo Tengah, Papua Pegunungan. Both cases involve its current regional leaders.
