The Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Ade Komaruddin told the press earlier today that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo nominated Commissioner General Tito Karnavian, the head of the National Counter Terrorism Agency (BNPT), as the next Chief of National Police (POLRI) to replace the soon-to-retire Chief General Badrodin Haiti. While Tito Karnavian’s nomination was within the realm of possibilities, many believed that the President would instead opt for renominating Chief Badrodin (after extending the latter’s term of service for another two years).
