It’s been a good week for the Governor of Jakarta Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has concluded that they found no wrongdoing in the Sumber Waras case. Ahok and his supporters can now capitalize on the KPK’s conclusion to dismiss all speculations linking him and his administration to graft. And indeed, Ahok has done just that. He told journalists earlier today that residents of Jakarta no longer have to worry about having a governor who takes bribes. But good news for Ahok aside, the KPK’s announcement also has other implications.
