Holding a new chairmanship congress (Munas) this year may be an inevitability for the Golkar Party, without which the torn Party may never reach peace. Golkar remains torn betwees Aburizal “Ical” Bakrie’s faction and Agung Laksono’s faction. More and more young politicians and senior figures in the Party, including Vice President Jusuf Kalla, have strongly endorsed the idea of holding a Munas to resolve the confrontational impasse.
