It’s clear now that the United Development Party (PPP) is a party torn by internal conflict. Until recently, the party’s chairman was Suryadharma Ali, but he was ousted by a group of PPP senior executive led by Secretary General Romahurmuzy, otherwise referred to as Romy. Romy and his supporters later announced that they will hold PPP’s Eighth Congress (Muktamar) in Surabaya. The Congress that would later affirm Romy as the new chairman of PPP.
