The Government to Take Over TPPI?

In the period of June to July 2018, Indonesia saw a deficit in trade. Statistics Indonesia (BPS) notes that in July 2018 Indonesia saw a USD2.03 billion due to the 49 percent increase of oil and gas import in the preceding month. The Government has been trying to avoid this sort of situation by accelerating the development of refineries by Pertamina. A part of the plan is supposedly Pertamina’s acquisition of PT Trans Pacific Petrochemical Indotama (TPPI).

Nippon Catalyst Pte Ltd v TPPI and Pertamina

Until today, the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim Polri) is still struggling to meet the demands required by the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) before they can continue the investigation into the case of alleged corruption involving PT Trans Pacific Petrochemical Indotama (TPPI) to the stage of prosecution. We recently found out that the Singapore High Court had been examining a dispute involving the same Company. It is Nippon Catalyst Pte Ltd, one of the Company’s shareholder, who filed for the lawsuit to be examined in Singapore. Last week, the High Court published their decision on the appeal filed by Nippon against the previous assistant registrar’s decision.
