Global stock markets declined on Thursday (August 26), with the Wall Street rally pausing ahead of the Jackson Hole Summit scheduled for today. The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq declined around 0.6% from record closing levels the day before after a deadly attack near Kabul airport. The Pentagon confirmed that 12 United States (US) service members had been killed and 15 wounded after two suicide bombers detonated explosives near Hamid Karzai International Airport in Afghanistan.
