The Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto, who is also the chairman of the Gerindra Party, finally answered the call from the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission for a hearing on Wednesday (June 2). At the heart of Wednesday’s hearing is the controversy surrounding the fantastic defense budget worth Rp1.7 quadrillion for modernizing the country’s primary weapons system (alutsista) mentioned in the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) drafted by the Defense Ministry. Another controversy discussed in the hearing concerns the establishment of a company named PT Teknologi Militer Indonesia (TMI) by the Defense Ministry for procuring military equipment.
