The foundation for domestic economic recovery in China is yet to be consolidated and long-standing structural problems remain prominent with new situations and issues emerge, the National Bureau Statistics said in a statement following the release of China’s Q1 GDP figure and several key economic data for March. It added that while the economy showed a sustained and stable recovery in Q1, the Chinese economy continued to face challenges, including the spread of COVID-19 globally and high uncertainties and instabilities due to a complicated international landscape. Regarding employment, the bureau mentioned that 2.97 million new jobs were created in Q1. Meantime, the jobless rate in March edged down to 5.3% from 5.5% in February.
