The opposition party PKS has its new leadership with the former Vice Mayor of Bekasi Ahmad Syaikhu elected as the Party’s 2020-2025 chairman, replacing Sohibul Iman. Syaikhu, who is now a lawmaker at the House of Representatives (DPR), isn’t a popular figure in Indonesian politics. One wonders whether his election can boost the votes of PKS in the upcoming elections. Note that PKS has been busy maintaining their base of supporters with the emergence of the Gelora Party, a new political party established by former key leaders of PKS.
