National cement consumption declined 7.5% to 5.19 million tons in January 2020, due to heavy rains and the absence of infrastructure projects. Cement consumption in Java island declined 9.6% to 2.86 million tons and Sumatera’s consumption fell 10.5% to 1.05 million tons. Cement consumption in Kalimantan declined 6.7% to 399,000 tons and consumption in Sulawesi declined 0.1% to 463,000 tons. Cement sales in Bali and Nusa Tenggara fell 4.8% to 276,000 tons. While cement consumption in Maluku and Papua increased 25.5% to 207,000 tons.
