The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) has said that the regional administrations in Papua can get 10.64% of the 51% shares that PT Freeport Indonesia planned to divest. The question is, how will they finance the purchase of said shares? Given that Papua is going to hold a gubernatorial election, those keen on benefiting from the regional administration control of Freeport’s divested shares could be attempting to approach the gubernatorial candidates.
