The leaders of the opposition seem to be panicking after the passage of the new election law. They seem to be very concerned with the status quo presidential threshold. This panic mode is obvious given the recent remarks of Democratic Party Chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and Gerindra Chairman Prabowo Subianto. Both men accused President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo of abusing his power. That’s a serious accusation, and a very frontal attack on the President. Why do they feel the need to do so? Why are they so concerned with the 20% presidential threshold?
