The resource-rich province East Kalimantan (home of the country’s largest gas-producing Mahakam Block) will take part in the 2018 simultaneous regional elections. The current Governor of the Province Awang Faroek Ishak, who is also a senior politician in Golkar Party, will no longer able to run in the race because he has served for two terms.
