The 2017 local election in Musi Banyuasin (Muba) is interesting to watch in light of the upcoming 2018 gubernatorial election in the resource-rich province of South Sumatra. The son of South Sumatra Governor and Golkar politician Alex Noerdin, Dodi Reza Alex Noerdin, and his running mate Beni Hernedi will go head-to-head against independent pair Amirul Arifin and running mate Ahmad Toha in the Muba regency.
