Pressure on the Governor of Jakarta Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama has intensified in the past few months. Beyond the race-related and religion-related smear campaigns, various government agencies seem to work against Ahok. Recently, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned Ahok as a witness in the case of suspected corruption in the purchase of a plot of land owned by the Yayasan Kesehatan Sumber Waras (YKSW), a foundation that manages the Sumber Waras Hospital. The KPK began their investigation into the case following a report filed by Ahok’s rivals in the Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD) of Jakarta, and based on an audit conducted by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK).To subscribe please click here
