As predicted, political parties in the House of Representatives (DPR) continue to make maneuvers that look like attempts at making it difficult for the Governor of Jakarta Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama to participate in the 2017 Jakarta gubernatorial election. Some political party factions are attempting to the minimum threshold of support that an independent candidate must secure before he/she can qualify as a regional leader candidate. The factions also agreed to the idea floated by the General Election Commission (KPU) that duty stamp must be affixed to the letter of endorsement of an independent candidate.To subscribe please click here
