Improved Connectivity Outlook

After years of efforts, including court battles, the government has finally completed land acquisition for Pejagan-Pemalang toll road. Overall construction progress reached 93%, ensuring full commercial operation of the toll road by Waskita Karya (WSKT) in the coming months. Land acquisition for Medan-Binjai and Palembang-Indralaya in Sumatra Island has also been fully completed.

Some toll roads in Sumatra Island are getting closer to completion and full commercial operation. The Medan-Binjai toll road in North Sumatra, for example, progressed well with construction progress of 83.56%, while Palembang-Indralaya toll road in South Sumatra has reached 80.4%. These toll roads should enter full commercial operation in the coming months.

Trans-Sumatra Toll Road Update

Land acquisition for Bakeuheni-Terbanggi Besar (141 KM) toll road in Sumatra has been faster recently. On November 25, for example, the government paid out compensation for 199 parcels of land in Serdang village. Earlier on November 17, the government also paid out compensation for 10 parcels in Gali Village, Lampung province, paving the way for faster construction of Section II of the toll road.

Jokowi’s Infrastructure Push

President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo is expected to solve land issue for the Jakarta-Bandung fast train project at air force base Halim Perdanakusuma area in his scheduled visit today. The president has also asked minister of high education and research to set aside 400 hectares of land in Walini, which will be one of the transit station for the fast train, for expansion of Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).

Toll Road Projects Update (1): Trans-Sumatra

Waskita Karya (WSKT), the state EPC firm, has provided Rp3.09 trillion loan facilities to subsidiary PT Waskita Toll Road (WTR) to bridge-finance land acquisition of its toll road projects. Fellow state EPC firm Hutama Karya, which is tasked to develop the trans-Sumatra toll road, meanwhile, boosted allocation of bridge financing for land acquisitions in the island.
