Populist and full of optimism are two main headlines of Indonesian media to describe 2018 State Budget approved by the House of Representatives (DPR) yesterday. The fact that the budget was passed without significant objection, with the exception from opposition party Gerindra, which is understandable, shows the government’s ability to get popular support in DPR. Some controversial items have been taken out, including the national police’s plan to establish a special anti-corruption force (Densus Tipikor), but others, including a plan to build new building for DPR/MPR, went smooth.
