Indonesia’s trade surplus increased to US$4.99 billion in September of 2022 from US$4.38 billion in the same month of the previous year, beating market expectations of US$4.84 billion surplus. Exports grew 20.28% over a year earlier to US$24.80 billion, the 19th straight month of double-digit increase in shipments, due to further solid global demand. Meanwhile, imports rose by 22.01% to US$19.81 billion, amid robust domestic demand following further easing of COVID-19 restrictions. For the first nine months of the year, the goods posted a surplus of US$39.86 billion, with exports and imports surging by 33.49% and 28.93%, respectively.
