Coal futures fell 1.89% to US$78 per ton on Tuesday (Feb. 16), falling 12.36% on a monthly basis, and it fell 3.96% year to date, closed to levels not seen since December, as temperatures across Europe continue to rise. Still, low stocks at Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Antwerp, colder than usual weather in many parts of the northern hemisphere, and hopes of a global economic recovery this year should drive a short-lived rebound in coal consumption.
