Foreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia plunged 89.22% year-on-year to 164,970 in August 2020, as the COVID-19 global pandemic forced more countries to implement travel restrictions. The number of arrivals by air in Bali, the center of the Indonesian tourism industry, plunged 100% to 12. Also, those visiting Jakarta tumbled 98.22% to 4,469 and those going to Batam slumped 99.18% to 1,505. Tourists fell mostly from Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
