China’s trade surplus narrowed to USD 37 billion in September 2020 from USD 39.08 billion in the same month the previous year, the least since March and far below market expectations of USD 58 billion. Exports rose by 9.9 percent, while imports increased at a faster 13.2 percent. The country’s trade surplus with the United States narrowed to USD 30.75 billion in September from USD 34.24 billion in August. For the first nine months of the year, China’s trade surplus with the US totalled USD 218.57 billion.
