In the midst of pandemic and large-scale social restrictions (PSBB), the association of auto producers (GAIKINDO) reported, the national auto sales reached 43,362 units in September or up 15.2% from the prior month. On the wholesale side, the increase has doubled to 30%, from 37,277 units in August to 48,554 units in September.

The secretary general, Kukuh Kumara, stated that the increase in sales in September shows that the Indonesian automotive industry is heading in a good direction after experiencing its lowest point in May 2020. Cumulatively, national car sales have not fully recovered. During January – September 2020, national car sales were minus 53.6% from the same period last year.
