Foreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia slumped 86.90% year-on-year to 163 thousand in May 2020, as the COVID-19 global pandemic forced more countries to implement travel restrictions. The number of visitors in Bali, the center of the Indonesian tourism industry, tumbled 99.99% to 34. Also, tourist arrivals in Jakarta sank 99.75% to 395, and those in Batam plunged 98.76% to 1.1 thousand. Tourists fell mostly from Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
