European Union leaders remained fundamentally divided over the size and conditions of an unprecedented €750 billion coronavirus recovery fund, particularly on how much in grants to offer member states most affected by the virus. A €500 billion in non-repayable grants for those regions and sectors hit hardest by the crises have been rejected by Austria, Denmark, Sweden, and the Netherlands, saying that amount should be cut to around €350 billion, despite Germany and France backing it. The euro was hovering around the $1.14 mark on Monday.
