Foreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia slumped 87.44% year-on-year to a fresh record low of 160 thousand in April 2020, as the COVID-19 global pandemic forced more countries to implement travel restrictions. The number of visitors in Bali, the center of the Indonesian tourism industry, tumbled 99.8% to 273. Also, tourist arrivals in Jakarta sank 99.2% to 417, and those in Batam plunged 97.4% to 1.1 thousand. Tourists fell mostly from Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
