Foreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia slumped 64.11 percent year-on-year to the lowest on record of 471 thousand, in March 2020, severely affected by the COVID-19 global pandemic as more countries implemented travel restrictions. The number of visitors in Bali, the center of the Indonesian tourism industry, tumbled 64.7% to 155.8 thousand. Also, tourist arrivals in Jakarta sank 75.4% to 52.6 thousand, and those from Batam plunged 74.7% to 92.2 thousand. Tourists mostly fell from Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
