In the second week of December 2019, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) announced that they had named Nurhadi Abdurrachman, the former secretary of the Supreme Court, a suspect of corruption. Several days after that, Nurhadi and two other suspects in the same case filed a pre-trial lawsuit, questioning the KPK’s decision. On Jan. 21, 2020, the sole presiding judge at the South Jakarta District Court ruled in favor of the KPK. The suspects, refusing the give up, filed another pre-trial lawsuit on Feb. 5, 2020. The first hearing began recently. In the meantime, the suspects have already been named fugitives for ignoring the KPK’s summons.
