Retail trade in Indonesia declined 0.3% year-on-year in January 2020, following a 0.5% drop in the previous month. This was the second straight yearly decrease in retail sales, as sales continued to fall for: cultural & recreational goods (-3.2% vs -19.60% in December); information & communication equipment (-3.1% vs -7.0%); fuel (-7.3% vs -9.4%), and that of clothing dropped (-27.5% vs 0.7%). By contrast, sales of continued to rise for both food, beverages & tobacco (3.5% vs 0.9%) and household equipment (2.0% vs 4.9%). On a monthly basis, retail sales plunged 7.5% in February, the first decline in four months.
