China’s Shanghai Composite index finished 22 points higher or 0.7% at 2,993 Tuesday, trimming its earlier gains, amid doubts over the size of stimulus policymakers may roll out to ease the impact of the coronavirus outbreak. Later today, G7 financial ministers and major central bankers are expected to hold a teleconference to discuss the economic response to the rapit spread of coronavirus. The event will be led by US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index also trimmed its earlier gains, closing near the flat line at 26,285.
