Global stock markets extended gains on Wednesday (Feb. 5), rebounding from the virus-fomented sell-off as optimism mounted that the spread would be contained. More central banks signaled a willingness to act if the virus undermines demand, inflation, and financial markets, Bloomberg reported. US stocks rallied to an all-time high on speculation efforts will succeed at minimizing the economic impact from the coronavirus. Better-than-forecast corporate earnings also continued to boost US equities.
