China’s trade surplus narrowed to USD 46.79 billion in December 2019 from US$56.80 billion in the same month a year earlier and less than market expectations of US$48.0 billion. Exports rose 7.6% year-on-year, while imports grew at a faster 16.3%. For full year of 2019, the trade surplus widened to US$424.39 billion from US$350.9 in a year earlier.
