Foreign investors opted to buy local stocks in the first two days of trading this month (January 2-3) as they are positive with Indonesia’s economy, external stability, and the rupiah appreciation against the U.S. dollar. They booked net buy of Rp943.75 billion in Jan 2-3, while domestic investors opted to take profits. The composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) gained 0.63% to close at 6323 on Friday last week (Jan 3). The rupiah weakened to Rp13,899 against the U.S. dollar, but it appreciated 3.68% to Rp13,880 in 2019.
