Major stock indexes in Asia closed in the green during a quiet session after Christmas. The US-China trade deal remains in the spotlight, with investors optimistic the phase one deal will be signed early next year. The Chinese commerce ministry said on Thursday that China is in close touch with the US on signing the deal, Reuters reported. The Shanghai Composite went up 25 points or 0.9% to 3007, the Nikkei 225 gained 142 points or 0.6% to 23925 and the Kospi added 8 points or 0.4% to 2198. Markets in Hong Kong and Australia were closed.
