The Indonesian government targets 31 nickel smelter to be operational by 2022, with 20 of them projected to be achieved next year, to boost production of electric car components. Head of the mineral exploration business of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Andri Budhiman said with so many smelters going into operation, there was no need to worry about supplies to factories for electric car components. He said the post-2022 nickel resource could be up to 42 years into the future. But, with a note that still requires exploration.
