Indonesian foreign tourist arrivals dropped by 4.1% from a year earlier to 1.48 million in July 2019. The number of foreign visitors in Bali resort island, the center of Indonesian tourism industry fell by 3.17% to 604.5 thousand. Also, tourist arrivals were down in Jakarta (-17.01% to 267.9 thousand). In contrast, foreign visitors grew in Batam (2.75% to 149.2 thousand).

Tourists mostly declined from the Philippines but rose from Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam. Considering the first seven months of 2019, the number of tourist arrivals rose by 2.63% to 9.31 million. For 2019, Indonesia set a target of 20 million foreign tourist arrivals, compared to 15.81 million in 2018.
