The Corruption Court of the Central Jakarta District Court convicted the last defendant in the corruption scheme involving officials of the Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) back in November 2018. The KPK continued the investigation after that and named a new suspect a month after the last trial ended. We thought that the KPK might have changed its target to politicians mentioned in the trials, but apparently, the KPK decided to go beyond. The KPK named PT Meriel Esa as the corporate suspect in the case in March 2019. Earlier this week, the KPK announced that they had developed their investigation and started a new inquisition on a different case, but with the same key person, i.e., Bambang Udoyo.
