Stock markets across the Asia-Pacific region closed deep in the red on Thursday, following losses on Wall Street overnight, amid renewed trade war fears after US President Donald Trump said he could impose additional tariffs on US$325 billion of Chinese imports. The Shanghai Composite Index lost 1% to 2,901; the Nikkei 225 fell 2% to 21,046 after data showed both exports and imports slumped in June; the Hang Seng Index retreated 0.7% to 28,399; the Kospi ended 0.3% lower at 2,067; and the S&P/ASX 200 slid 0.4% to 6,649.
