President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo attended a mass iftar gathering together with the Commander of the Military (TNI), the Chief of the National Police (POLRI) and some 2,000 military/police personnels at the National Monument (Monas) area, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (May 16). This is Jokowi’s way to consolidating the joint security forces and assure the public that politics and security remain under control ahead of the General Election Commission (KPU)’s announcement of the 2019 elections outcome on May 22.
