Indonesia Posts Trade Gap for 1st Time in 3 Months

Indonesia’s trade deficit widened to US$2.50 billion in April 2019 from a US$1.63 billion gap in the same month a year earlier. It was the first trade deficit since January, as exports tumbled 13.1% year-on-year while imports fell at a softer 6.58%. Considering the first four months of the year, the trade balance recorded a deficit of US$2.56 billion, compared with a deficit of US$1.41 billion in the same period of 2018.
