Stock markets across the Asia-Pacific region closed mixed on Friday after the Trump administration hiked tariffs from 10% to 25% on $200 billion of Chinese goods, amid ongoing trade negotiations. Beijing already said in a statement it would retaliate. The Shanghai Composite climbed 3.1%, following sharp losses in previous sessions; the Hang Seng index gained 1%; and both Kospi and ASX 200 added 0.3%. However, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.3%.
