The Nikkei 225 advanced 159 points, or 0.7% to 21,871; the Kospi increased 9 points, or 0.4% to 2,233 and Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 rose 53 points, or 0.9%, to 6,251, while the Hang Seng fell 63 points, or 0.2% to 29,776 and the Shanghai Composite traded near the flat line at 3,189.
