Indonesia’s trade surplus narrowed sharply to US$0.23 billion in September 2018, from a US$1.79 billion in the same month a year earlier. Exports rose 1.7% to US$14.83 billion. Meanwhile, imports increased at a faster 14.18% to US$14.60 billion.

Purchases of non-oil and gas increased 13.54% to US$12.23 billion and those of oil and gas went up by 17.75% to US$2.28 billion. Sales of non-oil and gas products went up by 3.78% to US$13.62 billion, while those of oil and gas tumbled by 16.99% to US$1.21 billion.
