The banking industry recorded a 9.24% growth in net profit year on year (y/y) in Jan-Aug 2018 period. This growth was mainly supported by the 5.35% growth in operating profit. In July, bank’s operating profit grew 5.09%, as net interest income rose 3.58% along with strong credit expansion. In August 2018, the banking sector booked a net profit of Rp95.91 trillion (higher than the Rp87.80 trillion profit in the same period of last year).
