The central bank (Bank Indonesia/BI) today hiked its benchmark interest rate, BI 7-day reverse repurchase rate for the fourth hike in less than three months, in an attempt to support the country’s falling currency. The decision came after the rupiah weakened to its lowest since October 2015 on the back of Turkey’s currency crisis.
